Abstract: In recent years, the digitization of genealogy provides a new way for the collation and integration of traditional Chinese genealogical resources, and also puts forward the requirements for the visualization of genealogy. The existing visualization forms of western genealogy and the metagraph visualization of Chinese genealogy are not quite suitable for the visualization of traditional Chinese genealogy. Based on the characteristics of traditional Chinese genealogy and the existing visualization forms of digital genealogy, this paper proposes two visualization forms, namely, improved genealogy tree and genealogy force-directed graph, with a discussion on their advantages, disadvantages and applicability. The two visualization forms are combined through user interaction. A prototype has been designed for the visualization of traditional Chinese genealogy in the forms of improved genealogy tree and genealogy force-directed graph, and an example based on the Wu genealogy of Taizhou, Zhejiang Province is provided for illustration.
